Norman Reedus in Transit
by Laura Wagner

Having spent my entire adult life in NYC, celebrity spotting is commonplace. Jaded and underwhelmed I often pass a film shoot and take note of the location before searching for the icons on set. Despite this blasé take on life, when I was invited to an event last night at the Soho Grand by Marcelle Murdock, the director of the Morrison Hotel Gallery I decided to make the effort. Based on reputation alone, it was to view the photography of actor Norman Reedus.

Transitioning from one art form to another has become a popular endeavor. It is not surprising that many with godly gifts have hidden talents waiting to emerge. Other highly acclaimed actors such as DeNiro, Pacino, to name just two of the immortals, have achieved notoriety in other artistic endeavors as well. And so is the case for Reedus.

The show ‘Norman Reedus: In Transit’ exemplifies his range of talent. As an actor he reached acclaim for his portrayals of Daryl Dixon in ‘The Walking Dead’ as well as a host of supporting roles over the years.
As a photographer, he will be lauded for his unconventional urban environments as well as his candid, moody and edgy scenes; namely ‘two-faced’ his self-portrait. In this double image, you can feel the grit and soul that has made him the legend that he has become. Viewing this wide scope of photography will place Reedus into yet another rarified category.
